"Presidential Character"

The way that one, as a citizen, votes for their president mostly depends on the way that one sees this “top man” on the media, but there are many other factors leading to his or her Personality. According to James David Barber there are four important things at which “we” as voters should pay close attention to, when deciding on which presidential candidate to vote for. First, a president’s personality is an essential”shaper” of his presidential behavior on important matters. Second, presidential personality is attractive. His character, world view, and style fit together in a vibrant package understandable in emotional terms. Third, a president’s personality work together with the power situation he faces and national “climate of expectations” overriding at the time he serves. The lack of it between these outside factors and his personality sets in action the dynamics of his presidency. Fourth, the best way to predict a president’s character, world view, and style is to see how they were put together in the first place. That happened in his early life, ending in his first independent political success.

Another factor of which Barber spoke and explained of, were the four types of presidential character. These include active-positive, active-negative, passive-positive, and passive-negative personalities. Active- positive presidents want most to achieve results. Active-negatives aim to get and keep power. Passive-positives are after love. Passive- negatives emphasize their civic virtue. The relation of activity to enjoyment in a president therefore tends to summarize a cluster of characteristics, to set apart the gained from the obsessive, obedient and solitary types.

Overall, deciding on which presidential candidate to give your vote to has many other aspects rather than just using self-knowledge. It takes real careful observations in order to actually make such a decision. Remember “The problem is to understand –and to state understandably–what in the personal past foreshadows the presidential future . . . . “

Make sure that you use the "his or her" instead of "their" throughout the essay consistently.
